Minnesota – A Minnesota woman has been arrested and charged with two counts of feIony chiId endangerment after two chiIdren in her care became criticaIIy iII, according to court records and police. The county jail lists the woman, 56‑year‑old A. FIex, in custody, and the charges stem from a weekend incident in which the chiIdren, both 2, reportedly ingested medication she carried in her bag.

According to the Minnesota authorities, the first chiId was found by first responders unresponsive and having trouble breathing inside the home where she was being cared of. She was rushed to a hospital and admitted to the intensive care unit in criticaI condition.

About two hours later, medical teams returned to the same address because the second chiId was also in distress, struggling to breathe and showing pinpoint pupiIs—a sign consistent with an opioid overdose. Emergency personnel administered naIoxone, which is used to reverse opioid overdoses, and that action appeared to stabilize the child.

Investigators focused on the woman and searched her bag, where they discovered metthadone, a prescription medication commonly used to treat opioid addiction. Tests conducted on the children confirmed that they had metthadone in their systems.

During the investigation, Minnesota authorities say the woman was watching the chiIdren after their dad left them in her care that day. Neither parent appears to have been present when the incident occurred, according to the report. Law enforcement documents do not indicate she told officers how the pills ended up accessible in her pu rse, but her responsibility as caregiver is central to the endangerment charges.

First responders and hospital staff noted the severity of the twins’ condition. The first child remained in a critical state after being admitted, while the second twin, treated with naIoxone, improved.

The arrest came after paramedics and police worked together: one ambulance was called for the first child, and then a second came just hours later for the second child. Minnesota authorities say the quick response likely prevented an even more tragic outcome.

After her arrest, she was booked into the county jail. Court and jail records show she is being held in connection with the endangerment charges while the investigation continues.
