North Dakota – North Dakota Governor Kelly Armstrong has proclaimed June 1 as Get Home Safe Day, highlighting the importance of workplace safety across the state’s major industries.
In a statement shared on social media, Armstrong emphasized that workplace safety is strongest when it is incorporated into everyday decision-making.
He noted that safety is especially critical in North Dakota, where agriculture and energy remain the state’s two largest industries and are also among the most hazardous, according to the National Safety Council.
The governor said the initiative is intended to encourage safer practices and reinforce a culture where workers prioritize returning home safely at the end of each day.
Armstrong also thanked Workforce Safety & Insurance, commonly known as WSI North Dakota, for its continued leadership in promoting workplace safety programs throughout the state.
Officials said Get Home Safe Day serves as a reminder of the risks faced by workers in key industries and the ongoing effort to reduce workplace injuries and fatalities in North Dakota.
