Bismarck, N.D. – A routine bike patrol turned into a heartwarming display of community spirit when Sgt. Miller of the Bismarck Police Department encountered a young boy named Memphis and his mother at a city park.
Memphis was spotted riding his bike while wearing a helmet — a key requirement in the department’s Helmet Safety Program. For following the rules, he was rewarded with a free ice cream cone ticket.
But the positive moment didn’t end there. Sgt. Miller, Memphis, and his mom noticed a large amount of trash near the playground. Without being asked, the pair joined the officer in cleaning up the area, showing an inspiring example of community pride and stewardship.
“Thank you, Memphis and Mom, for showing what it means to be safe, helpful, and proud of our parks,” the department shared in a statement.
The Bismarck Police Department continues to encourage safe habits and civic responsibility through programs like this — with a little fun and ice cream along the way.
