Bismarck, N.D. – The Bismarck Fire Department responded to a cooking-related fire at a single-family residence on the south side of town Monday evening.
Firefighters arrived on the scene to find smoke coming from the home and quickly worked to contain the fire, which was limited to the kitchen cooktop area and surrounding cabinets.
No injuries were reported among the occupants or firefighters.
Crews also removed two pets from the house.
After extinguishing the fire, firefighters ventilated the home to clear out smoke and conducted a thorough inspection to ensure there were no remaining hazards.
The fire was determined to be accidental and related to cooking.
The Bismarck Fire Department reminds residents to remain vigilant while cooking and to never leave food unattended on the stove.
