Bismarck, N.D. – The Bismarck Fire Department is reminding residents to fully extinguish smoking materials before disposal, emphasizing the importance of putting them out “all the way, every time.”

Whether using an ashtray or a designated smoking station, individuals should ensure that cigarettes, cigars, and other materials are cool to the touch before discarding them in a proper container.

Officials warn that during a burn ban, even a small spark can ignite dry grass, leaves, or debris, potentially leading to dangerous wildfires.

The department urges the public to take extra precautions to prevent accidental fires and help protect the community.
