BISMARCK, N.D. — Following are the North Dakota Department of Health COVID-19 case rates, deaths, hospitalizations and vaccinations as of Friday, April 16. Because all data is preliminary, some numbers and totals may change from one day to the next.
Statewide case rates
- NEW CASES: 58
- TOTAL ACTIVE CASES: 966
- TOTAL CASES: 107,912
- TOTAL RECOVERED: 105,452
- DAILY TEST POSITIVITY RATE: 5.6%
North Dakota’s active case count dropped by 53 on Monday, bringing the state back below 1,000 active positives. Cass County, which includes Fargo, reported 34 new cases, and Burleigh County, which includes Bismarck, reported 26. The two-week rolling average positivity rate is 4.3%.
Hospitalizations, deaths

The health department reported no new virus deaths on Tuesday.
Vaccinations
- FIRST DOSE ADMINISTERED: 279,241 (46.7% of population)
- COMPLETED SERIES (2 DOSES): 246,662 (41.3% of population)
A total of 547,562 shots have been administered to North Dakotans as of Friday. The demand for COVID-19 vaccinations has plateaued in the month of April, and state officials are urging residents to get vaccinated to help the state achieve herd immunity.
