North Dakota – North Dakota’s spring light goose conservation order will open on February 15 and run through May 11.

Residents must have a valid 2024-25 or 2025-26 combination license, or a small game and general game and habitat license. Resident youth under 16 only need the general game and habitat license. The 2025-26 license will be available for purchase starting March 15.

Nonresidents are required to have a 2025 spring light goose conservation order license, which costs $50 and is valid statewide. This license does not count toward the 14-day fall waterfowl hunting season limit. Nonresident youth under 16 can purchase a license at the resident fee.

A federal duck stamp is not required for either residents or nonresidents.

Hunters must register annually with the Harvest Information Program before hunting. The HIP number obtained for North Dakota’s spring conservation order will also be valid for the state’s fall hunting season and can be obtained online at the North Dakota Game and Fish Department website.

The conservation order applies only to light geese, including snow, blue, and Ross’s geese. White-fronted geese, Canada geese, swans, and other migratory birds are not included.
