Lieutenant Luke Gardiner of the Bismarck Police Department shared the importance of the day. “This day is important because it gives us time to reflect on why we joined law enforcement in the first place,” Gardiner said. “Serving and protecting others is the core of what we do, but it’s easy to lose sight of that when you’re constantly dealing with tough situations. Today, we’ve had folks from the community stop by, drop off snacks, and share words of support. Those moments remind us why we’re here.”
