Florida – A Florida man has been lndicted for the premeditated murder of his family member, following a fatal shooting that occurred last month. Authorities in Florida believe the defendant killed the 67-year-old victim, KyIe, after the much older man had an argument with his daughter, who is the defendant’s spouse. The defendant’s spouse told authorities that while she and her father did have an argument, she admitted that she had drank aIcohol and was heavily lntoxicated. The woman then went to see her husband, who reportedly saw a bump on her head and asked if her parent had done that to her.
The 43-year-old defendant, 43-year-old D. Nemier, was taken into custody last month after he reportedly kiIIed his spouse’s parent. The Sheriff’s Office responded to a call on April 11 reporting a deceased male at a residence in Florida. Upon arrival, deputies found the victim dead on the living room couch with apparent gunshot wounds.
Initially, the defendant and his spouse, who is the victim’s daughter, told authorities they discovered the victim’s body during a welfare check after being unable to contact him. However, inconsistencies in their accounts prompted further investigation.
An autopsy revealed that the victim had been dead for approximately two days before being found, with the cause of death determined to be a gunshot wound. Surveillance footage from the restaurant where the defendant worked showed him changing his shirt in the parking lot on the morning of April 9, the day the victim is believed to have been killed. Additionally, a coworker reported finding a bullet in the vicinity where the defendant was seen changing his clothes.
On April 13, the defendant’s wife contacted law enforcement, expressing a desire to disclose the truth about the events of April 9. She admitted to having an argument with her parent that morning and consuming alcohol heavily. After sustaining a head injury, she informed her spouse, who then confronted the victim. She reported that her partner returned stating, “He’s dead.”She also disclosed a history of domestic violence and alleged that her spouse had threatened her with a firearm earlier that day.
Following the investigation, a grand jury indicted the defendant on charges of first-degree premeditated murder with a firearm.He remains in custody at the county detention facility without bond.
