North Dakota – All three suspects involved in a multi-agency pursuit through Sioux and Morton counties on June 2 have been safely taken into custody, thanks to aerial support from the North Dakota Highway Patrol (NDHP).
The incident began at approximately 10:38 a.m., when the Sioux County Sheriff’s Department initiated a pursuit along Highway 6 that eventually crossed into Morton County. NDHP Troopers and Morton County deputies joined the chase, with NDHP Troopers taking the lead as the suspect vehicle fled down rural and off-road paths.
The suspects — two males and one female — abandoned their 2012 Chevrolet Avalanche near 44th Street and 27th Avenue, an area near the Heart River southwest of Mandan. They fled on foot, prompting an extensive search by both ground and air units.
After an initial suspension of the search due to lack of visibility, NDHP confirmed in a 5:17 p.m. update that their aircraft successfully located the suspects and guided officers to their position. All three were arrested without incident.
Authorities had earlier released descriptions of the suspects and advised the public not to approach them, asking anyone with information to contact the Sioux County Sheriff’s Office at (701) 854-3481.
The NDHP praised the cooperation among agencies and the effective use of aerial surveillance in bringing the situation to a peaceful resolution.
