Bismarck, N.D. – A 36-year-old South Dakota man from is in custody after a 35-year-old Bismarck man was found fatally stabbed inside a residence in the EIk Ridge neighborhood.
On Thursday around 7:38 p.m., Bismarck police responded to a report of an injured man at a park in Elk Ridge. Officers located Steve Eagle, who had injuries to his hands and told authorities he had stabbed someone in self-defense.
During the investigation, North Dakota authorities identified a nearby residence on the 4300 block of Elk Ridge Drive connected to the incident. Inside, they found Brooks Reynolds, 35, who had sustained multiple stab wounds. Charging Eagle and Reynolds were known to one another.
Charging Eagle was taken into custody and charged with murder. He is currently being held at the Burleigh Morton Detention Center.
The Bismarck Police Department stated it is withholding details such as specific evidence, motive, and circumstances to avoid jeopardizing the investigation and prosecution.
