Bismarck, N.D. -Bismarck police have issued an extreme cold alert, warning residents to prepare for dangerously low temperatures and wind chills that could cause frostbite in minutes.
Officials advised dressing in layers, covering exposed skin, and wearing hats, gloves, and warm boots.
Residents were urged to stay indoors when possible, limit time outside, and keep emergency supplies in vehicles.
Authorities also reminded the public to bring pets inside and check on elderly neighbors and family members to ensure their safety.
