North Dakota – On July 26, 2025, a North Dakota Highway Patrol trooper initiated a traffic stop on a black Lexus traveling on Interstate 94 near mile marker 328. The driver failed to comply and led officers on a pursuit covering approximately 25 miles.

The vehicle exited I-94 at Exit 328, briefly traveled northbound before re-entering eastbound I-94, then exited again at Exit 331, turning south onto Highway 18. During the chase, the suspect reached speeds up to 115 mph, drove into oncoming lanes, and later slowed to speeds between 10 and 20 mph while passing through the town of Leonard. The pursuit continued onto rural county roads and ended in a private farmyard.

Due to the suspect’s dangerous driving, a trooper successfully deployed a precision immobilization technique (PIT) maneuver, leading to a high-risk stop. The suspect was taken into custody without further incident.

The driver was arrested and faces multiple charges, including fleeing a peace officer, carrying a concealed weapon, driving under revocation, reckless endangerment, second offense possession of drug paraphernalia, criminal mischief, speeding 36–45 mph over the limit, and an open container violation. The suspect also had active arrest warrants.

After being transported to Sanford Hospital for evaluation, the individual was booked into the Cass County Jail.

Assisting agencies included the Cass County Sheriff’s Office, Leonard Fire Department, Kindred Ambulance, and Sanford Ambulance. The North Dakota Highway Patrol continues to investigate the incident.
