North Dakota – Governor Kelly Armstrong joined officials today for the groundbreaking of a new Military Gallery at the North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum, a project honoring the state’s servicemembers and veterans.

Armstrong highlighted the gallery as a step toward making North Dakota the most military-friendly state in the nation. “This gallery honors our rich military history and the citizens who have served in every branch,” he said. “Their service is worthy of recognition every day with a world-class gallery memorializing their sacrifices for our freedom.”

The project is funded through a combination of $15 million from the state’s Strategic Investment and Improvements Fund, a $20 million line of credit from the Bank of North Dakota, and $4.2 million to repay a previous line of credit, with nearly $39 million expected from private-sector contributions.

The State Historical Society is partnering on the project alongside the North Dakota National Guard and associated foundations. More details are available on the State Historical Society’s website.
