North Dakota – At around 2:30 AM on February 28, a collision occurred on I-29 in Cass County, involving two trucks.
A 2000 Kenworth truck, traveling northbound, was struck from behind by an empty cattle hauler.
The impact caused the Kenworth to come to rest on the shoulder of the road, while the cattle hauler stopped in the right lane.
The driver of the cattle hauler, a 66-year-old man from Forrest, Manitoba, was able to exit his vehicle before it became engulfed in flames. The driver sustained minor injuries and was transported by ambulance to Sanford Hospital.
The 72-year-old driver of the Kenworth truck, a man from Brainerd, Minnesota, was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the incident.
Both drivers’ injuries were classified as minor, and charges are pending in connection with the accident.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol, Cass County Sheriff’s Office, Fargo Fire Department, and Sanford Ambulance responded to the scene. The cause of the crash is under investigation.
