A woman recently shared a somewhat strange note on her Facebook account in which a neighboring family threatened to report her for the smell of meat. The family, apparently consisting of vegans, was clearly upset by the smell of meat coming from the woman’s window. They were antagonized once more when she hosted a BBQ.

The first note, signed by “Sarah, Wayne, and the kids”, pleads with the woman to keep her window closed while cooking (SEE PHOTO). The family explains that they are vegan, eating exclusively plant-based dishes, and that the smell of meat she cooks is upsetting and nauseating to them. The woman, apparently named Kylie, posted the note on Facebook, finding it both funny and a bit unexpected.

Not long later, she received a second note from the family with a stronger tone and even a threat in it. Upset that Kylie threw a barbecue and posted their first note to social media, the family now reiterated their requests more strongly while also claiming they would take to social media and even report her if she did not listen. Nothing has apparently come of the threats other than the photos going viral in Australia and beyond. They have been shared, liked, and commented on hundreds to thousands of times (SEE PHOTO).

Many people have commented with clear bias for or against vegans in general, igniting a debate about the growingly popular diet choice. Vegans avoid any foods that include animal products, from meat to dairy to jello. While many people who choose to be vegan are understanding or seek to educate, some are also seen as preaching or talking down to people who still eat cheese and steak.
