The then-32-year-old woman, Megan, was sentenced to prison for recording herself laughing as she se-ually abused her boyfriend, who was dying from a drug overdose. According to prosecutors, the woman called 911 to report that her boyfriend, Brandon, was unresponsive.

He died from a heroin overdose and police recovered drugs, paraphernalia, and a video from the couple’s home. The footage showed the woman laughing as she se-ually abused him, before calling emergency services 45 minutes later.

The woman’s attorney stated that his client had made the tape to show Brandon later, to get him to quit using the substances. “It was done stupidly and wrongly, but there was no malice,” attorney reportedly Koch said, stating that his client was also on drugs at the time.

However, prosecutor Park maintained that Megan’s delay in calling for help was inexcusable. Megan had previously pleaded guilty to abusing an incapacitated adult, se-ual battery, and two counts of possessing illegal drugs. The second drug charge was in connection to another incident where she gave a man drugs at a motel, causing him to overdose. She was sentenced to 16 years in prison. We are republishing this story amid recent reports that suggest many US states are recording record highs in sexual assault incidents.
