Fargo, ND – A Fargo Police Department squad car was struck by another vehicle on the evening of January 18, though fortunately, no injuries were reported.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol (NDHP), the incident occurred just before 10 p.m. at the intersection of 7th Avenue N and 25th Street N. A 50-year-old Fargo woman was driving a Dodge Journey westbound on 7th Avenue N when she ran a red light and collided with the police car.
The Fargo officer was driving through the intersection after receiving a green light when the woman disregarded the signal and hit the side of the squad car. The officer was not injured in the crash.
NDHP responded to the scene to investigate the accident. Following the crash, the woman was arrested and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and driving while her license was suspended. Both charges are classified as B misdemeanors.
The incident remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
