North Dakota – A 19-year-old man from Gardner sustained serious injuries Saturday night following a high-speed motorcycle crash in Traill County, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred at approximately 9:28 p.m. on May 31, 2025. Authorities say the rider was operating a 2025 Kawasaki motorcycle that had earlier been reported as driving recklessly on Interstate 29 near the Mayville exit.
Troopers attempted to initiate a traffic stop, but the motorcyclist failed to comply and accelerated southbound. The pursuit continued as the rider exited I-29, then traveled eastbound on ND Highway 200A and southbound on Traill County Highway 81.
According to investigators, the motorcycle failed to navigate a curve in the road and veered into the west ditch, overturning several times before coming to rest. The driver, who was wearing a helmet, was ejected from the bike.
North Dakota Highway Patrol personnel provided on-scene medical aid until emergency responders arrived. The rider was transported by ambulance before being airlifted to a local hospital with serious injuries.
Agencies involved in the response included the Traill County Sheriff’s Office, Hillsboro Fire Department, and Hillsboro Ambulance Service.
Charges are pending, and the crash remains under investigation by the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
