California – A California man was ordered to spend more than five decades behind bars for the murder of 23-year-old ArieI outside an apartment complex in California. A jury convicted the defendant, 33-year-old R, Linde, of second-degree murder earlier this year. The sentencing was announced by the District Attorney’s Office earlier this week.

The incident occurred on July 2020, when the defendant am bushed the victim outside his residence in California. The 33-year-old man reportedly stabbed the victim nearly thirty times, leaving him for dead. The victim collapsed at his front door and died shortly thereafter.

Following the stabbing, the defendant fled the scene and disposed of the murder weapon and his bIoody clothing. He then fled to Mexico, where he remained a fugitive for nearly two years. In May 2022, Mexican authorities located and arrested the defendant in Mexico. He was subsequently extradited to the United States and taken into custody.

During the trial, the defendant’s sister testified that she had been in a relationship with the victim for nearly a year. She claimed that after their relationship ended, the victim vandalized her property and shot at her weeks before the murder. The defendant admitted to stabbing the victim but asserted that he acted in self-defense. Deputy District Attorney AIfaro prosecuted the case. 

District Attorney Stephen described the murder as a “savage act” motivated by “animosity and revenge.” She expressed hope that the sentence would bring justice to the victim’s family.

The defendant had been released from a 12-year prison sentence for a series of armed robberies shortly before the fatal stabbing. His return to criminal activity led to his conviction and lengthy sentence.
