Bismarck, N.D. – The North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) is now accepting applications for the Special Road Fund (SRF) program, which supports highway projects on roads providing access to recreational, tourist, and historical areas.
The program is designed to help political subdivisions, tribal governments, and state agencies finance projects that have some funding but need additional assistance. This year, funding has increased to an 80/20 split, with a maximum of $500,000 in SRF dollars available per project.
Applications for projects planned for construction in 2026 or 2027 must be submitted by November 30, 2025. The Special Road Fund Advisory Committee is expected to meet in early 2026 to review applications and select projects for funding.
NDDOT Director Ron Henke encouraged counties, cities, state agencies, and tribal governments to apply and share information about the program with park boards, historical societies, and townships.
