Bismarck, N.D. – In Week 9 of the Bismarck Citizen Academy, participants visited the Central Dakota Communications Center (CenCom) to gain insight into how emergency calls are managed in the community.
Attendees learned about the crucial role the department plays in connecting the public to first responders during emergencies.
The event included real-life examples of emergency calls received by CenCom.
Participants had the opportunity to view the area where Emergency Communications Specialists handle calls and engage in an interactive training session, simulating a 9-1-1 call.
This hands-on experience gave attendees a deeper understanding of the challenges and responsibilities faced by first responders and emergency dispatchers.
