Bismarck, N.D. – The Bismarck Fire Department is asking residents to help ensure fire hydrants remain accessible as more snowfall approaches.

With over 4,500 hydrants throughout the city, snow accumulation can make many difficult to reach in emergencies.

To assist firefighters, the department is encouraging residents to “adopt” a hydrant by clearing snow from around it this winter.

Keeping hydrants accessible helps ensure a quick response in case of fire.
