The mother, Julie, was reportedly driving home along with her husband, Andy, and their then-8-year-old son when their car collided with another vehicle. Her husband died at the scene while she was rescued from the wreckage. The car had been crushed and mangled. Emergency responders didn’t realize there was an 8-year-old boy in the wreckage until they found a shoe. They pulled the boy out from the back of the car but he appeared to be lifeless with serious damage to his head. He was rushed to the hospital where doctors said he had suffered massive head trauma during the accident and he was in a coma for two weeks.

The doctors said there was little chance of survival. “They told me that if he lived, which did not look good, that he would be like an 8-year old baby. Not knowing how to walk or talk. I was so desperate that I said it was okay. I would take that just to have him,” she said. The 8-year-old boy, Landon, woke up from his coma and the doctors were shocked to find that he hadn’t suffered any brain damage given the gruesome crash and the severity of his injuries on his head. Kemp was relieved but torn at the thought of having to tell him his father had died.

“I didn’t want to hurt him anymore, so I asked Landon, ‘Do you know where your dad is?’ and he told me, Yes, I know where he’s at, I saw him in heaven.'” Julie was speechless. Landon said he had an afterlife experience and saw not just his father, but also his Dad’s friend and a friend’s son, who both had passed away earlier. “Never one of us said a word to each other, but we were just all standing there,” recalled Landon. The mother was in complete shock but she still wasn’t prepared for what her son was about to say. Landon turned to his Mom and casually said, “By the way, I forgot to tell you. I saw your other two kids.” She was confused… she didn’t have two other kids. Then it hit her.

She had two miscarriages before having Landon but they had never told him that. Landon recalled the incident and said he just knew they were his siblings. “I knew that they were my siblings even though no one had ever told me about them, just being in heaven, I guess, you know you know your own,” said Landon. Landon and his mom have since been sharing their story with others who struggle with the loss of loved ones. Kemp had nearly lost faith in God after the gruesome car crash that left her husband dead and nearly killed her son, but Landon’s experience has renewed her faith and given her fresh purpose in life.
