North Dakota – Gov. Kelly Armstrong signed an executive order directing state agencies to prepare personnel and resources to assist with response efforts during the America 250 celebrations over the July 4 holiday, including the grand opening of the Theodore Roosevelt Presidential Library in Medora.
The order requires all state agencies to review and implement preparedness and response plans as appropriate, maintain high readiness levels, and ensure personnel and resources are ready for deployment.
Agencies are also directed to coordinate with the North Dakota Department of Emergency Services to support monitoring and statewide preparedness activities.
State officials expect the library’s grand opening and other America 250 events to significantly increase travel and visitation across North Dakota.
The surge in activity is expected to raise the risk of public safety incidents, including wildfires, medical emergencies, and traffic congestion, while placing added pressure on local infrastructure and emergency services.
State agencies have already been working alongside local officials to address logistical needs tied to the library opening and related events.
The executive order is intended to ensure a coordinated response and readiness across all levels of government as the state prepares for increased demand during the holiday celebrations.
