Bismarck, ND – A 66-year-old woman from Hebron was killed in a crash on Friday afternoon on Morton County Road 88, just north of Glen Ullin, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
The incident occurred around 4:30 p.m. when the woman, driving an SUV, became distracted by a phone call. Authorities say the driver veered off the road into a ditch before striking a concrete bridge support.
The woman was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash. Emergency responders life-flighted her to a hospital in Bismarck, where she was later pronounced dead from her injuries.
Three children, who were passengers in the SUV, were also injured in the crash. Fortunately, they were wearing seatbelts and were transported to a local hospital by ambulance for treatment. Their current conditions have not been released.
The North Dakota Highway Patrol is urging motorists to avoid distractions while driving, especially when using mobile phones, which can significantly impair a driver’s ability to react to potential hazards. The crash remains under investigation.
