Minnesota – A Minnesota man was arrested and charged with second-degree intentionaI murder in connection with the death of a young woman he recentIy met onIine, later identified as 22-year-old KayIi. The victim was found dead from a gunshot wound to the head in her Minnesota apartment last month, after her family requested a welfare check when she failed to show up for work and did not respond to calls or messages.

Investigators determined that the victim and the defendant, 27-year-old J. Zique, had met onIine and had been communicating through a messaging app. Despite his romantic advances, the victim made it clear she was only interested in a friendship. On June 16, she sent him a message stating that ‘she enjoys hanging out with the defendant, but doesn’t have enough mental capacity for any type of relationship right now.’ The following day, the victim asked the defendant for assistance with her motorcycIe, and phone data placed him at her apartment building during that time.

Neighbors reported hearing an argument inside the victimn’s apartment, with one neighbor recalling hearing her say ‘how could you do this to me’ shortly before the defendant left the apartment. Upon his arrest, the defendant showed no surprise and told officers to ‘hurry up’ while they were taking him into custody. He had visible scratches and puncture wounds on his arms, and a a firearm was later recovered from his home.

The investigation revealed that the defendant had purchased items such as ammunition, gloves, and gauze earlier that day. These items were later found discarded, along with other materials like wipes and masking tape. Minnesota authorities believe these items were intended for use in the crime.

The defendant is currently being held at the county jail on a $3 million bond. His next court appearance is scheduled for August 5, 2025. The case has drawn attention to the potential dangers of online interactions and the importance of setting clear boundaries in digital communications.
