North Dakota – The North Dakota Highway Patrol is warning residents about a scam involving fraudulent claims of winnings from Publishers Clearing House.

A local resident recently received a call stating they had won $2 million and that a state trooper, using the name “Gary Thomas,” would personally deliver the prize.

NDHP officials have confirmed that the agency is not involved in prize deliveries and urged residents to remain cautious of similar scams.

Authorities provided several tips to help the public identify fraudulent schemes:
– If an individual did not enter a sweepstakes, they did not win.
– Law enforcement officers do not deliver prize money.
– If an offer appears too good to be true, it likely is.

NDHP advises residents to be wary of unsolicited calls claiming large winnings and to report any suspicious activity to local law enforcement.
