Commuting daily can be a tedious task for most of us. Sgt. Scott from the NCSO commutes a lot and certainly understands the pains of it, thankfully he has a nice cruiser to drive around the streets. He spotted a woman with a challenging commute, he had seen her many times as he drove by. He stopped by and decided to talk to her, and this was a life turning discussion.
Sgt. Scott said that at the intersection one day, he saw a young female walking by, and the weather was very cold, that day. He says her name was Jaelesya and “I could see by her dress that she worked for Bojangles,” which was more than six miles away. The unfortunate would spend two hours walking to work and two hours to return every day. Bass did his best to help her, picking her up when it was rainy or cold.
But he was truly bothered by the distance she commuted daily and was impressed with her perseverance. So he decided to do something to help her. He says “It just kinda really weighed on me and bothered me, and every day that I gave her a ride I just, for some reason just talked to my wife about her.” So he met and spoke with the management of a local Walmart and they decided that they had the very thing needed to help the poor woman.
The big-box store donated a shiny new Schwinn Fairhaven Women’s Cruiser Bike to the lady, so that she would not need to walk any more. Sgt. Scott says that initially when he wanted to meet her, she thought he was going to reprimand her for something. “I was shocked,” she said. “I didn’t think it was real.” Thankfully he intervened and because of his efforts a hardworking woman will find her life is easier now.
