Bismarck, N.D. – A 16-year-old girl from Mandan died after a two-vehicle crash Friday night at the intersection of West Main Avenue and Missouri Avenue in Bismarck, according to the Bismarck Police Department.
Officers responded to the crash at about 8:35 p.m. Oct. 2. The crash involved a westbound Infiniti and a Chevy Equinox that was making a left turn from West Main Avenue onto Missouri Avenue.
Police said the Infiniti struck the passenger side of the Equinox. The Infiniti had one person inside, while the Equinox was carrying three occupants.
Several people were injured in the crash, and the 16-year-old girl was transported to a local hospital, where she later died from her injuries.
Bismarck police said they are continuing to work with the girl’s family as next-of-kin notifications remain ongoing.
The department’s Traffic Unit conducted an initial investigation and determined that speed appears to have been a factor in the crash. However, the investigation remains ongoing as officers continue reviewing the circumstances surrounding the collision.
Police said additional information is expected to be released Monday, Oct. 5, as investigators continue their work and allow the girl’s family time to make notifications.
