Bismarck, ND – The Turtle Mountain Band of Chippewa has released additional information surrounding a fatal officer-involved shooting that occurred on the tribe’s reservation over the weekend, sparking widespread attention and criticism.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, the tribe confirmed that the officer involved in the shooting, whose identity has not been disclosed, is a federal employee with the Bureau of Indian Affairs-Office of Justice Services. The officer has been placed on administrative leave and will not engage in any law enforcement duties until the investigation is completed.
The incident, which took place on December 29, 2023, is being investigated by the FBI. The chase ended in the fatal shooting shortly after Parisien exited his truck.
