FARGO, N.D. — A Fargo woman now has a safer way to get in her house, as she deals with long-term health effects from two different types of cancers.
The Home Builders Association of Fargo-Moorhead built a ramp Thursday morning, May 13, for Barb Sather.
Sather was diagnosed with choriocarcinoma — a type of cancer in the uterus — in 1985, and after beating that, she was diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004.
“I will be able to get out (of the house) easier,” Sather said. “The ramp is wider than the one that we borrowed (from the Freedom Resource Center).”
Even though she’s been in remission since 2005, Sather is still fighting balance and cognitive issues. her husband, Kent Sather, knew they had to find a way to make the house safer, while she deals with those long-term side effects.
“The fewer stairs she needed to go up and down, the better,” Kent Sather said.
