North Dakota – A fatal single-vehicle crash occurred Thursday morning, June 12, at approximately 7:42 a.m. on US Highway 2 near mile marker 246, about seven miles east of Leeds.
According to the North Dakota Highway Patrol, a 62-year-old male driver from Devils Lake was operating a 2001 Chevrolet Tahoe westbound when the vehicle left the roadway, entered the median, struck an embankment, crossed back across the highway, and came to rest in a slough. The driver was not wearing a seatbelt and died at the scene.
Road and weather conditions were reported as good at the time of the crash. No charges have been filed, and the investigation is ongoing.
Agencies responding to the incident included the North Dakota Highway Patrol, Benson County Sheriff’s Office, Lake Region Ambulance Service, Leeds Ambulance Service, and Leeds Fire Department.
