North Dakota – The North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) has announced that applications are now being accepted for the second round of the Flexible Transportation Fund (Flex Fund) program, aimed at investing in the state’s existing infrastructure.

Approved by the 69th Legislative Assembly, the Flex Fund provides grants designed to reduce long-term maintenance and operational costs while improving connectivity, efficiency, and safety across North Dakota’s transportation network.

Approximately $116 million will be distributed to local public agencies through this round of Flex Fund grants. The program now includes grants and formula distributions tailored for non-oil townships, non-oil counties and cities, and bridge projects. These funds are intended to supplement traditional funding sources and accelerate project delivery.

“There was a very high interest among local partners during the initial Flex Fund rollout,” said NDDOT Director Ron Henke. “We look forward to continuing to work with our local partners to enhance the transportation system statewide with this next round.”

A webinar explaining program updates, the application process, and answering questions will be held on July 22 at 10 a.m. Central Time. Applications for the Flex Fund are due by September 19, 2025.
