North Dakota – The North Dakota Department of Transportation will start the Highway 83 culvert replacement project on August 4, 2025. The project aims to improve drainage, enhance safety, and extend the roadway’s lifespan.

Work includes replacing the existing structural steel pipe beneath U.S. Highway 83/South Broadway Street with a new concrete box culvert, along with signal upgrades and road resurfacing.

Preparations are already underway. Southbound U.S. 83/South Broadway has been reduced to one lane, and the U.S. 2 off-ramp to U.S. 83 is closed.

A detour directs drivers via the U.S. 2/U.S. 52 interchange, routing north on U.S. 52, then west on U.S. 2 to rejoin U.S. 83. Motorists should expect delays during these closures.

Construction is expected to be completed by late October 2025.

The NDDOT will provide ongoing updates on traffic changes and road conditions as the project advances.
