Bismarck, N.D. – First- through third-grade educators in North Dakota are invited to apply for worm soil conservation kits, offered by the North Dakota Department of Agriculture and the North Dakota Ag in the Classroom Program. The kits give students hands-on opportunities to learn about worms and their role in soil health and plant growth.
“I encourage educators to take advantage of this opportunity to embed agriculture into their classrooms,” said Agriculture Commissioner Doug Goehring. “Teachers and students will get insight into the world of worms and learn about the vital role they play in keeping soil healthy.”
Each kit includes age-appropriate lesson plans from the National Ag in the Classroom Matrix, a worm farm kit, and a related book. Educators are encouraged to incorporate the materials into their curriculum by April 1, 2026, with follow-up surveys scheduled for late April.
A limited number of kits are available on a first-come, first-served basis, with one kit per classroom. Applications close November 14, 2025, and can be submitted online at ndda.nd.gov/AITCresources.
