North Dakota – Gov. Kelly Armstrong issued a statement following the release of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers’ final Environmental Impact Statement on the Dakota Access Pipeline, which recommends maintaining pipeline operations and reinstating the easement to cross Lake Oahe.

According to the statement, Armstrong said the decision represents a positive development for North Dakota and moves the state closer to concluding what he described as a lengthy and politicized process.

He noted that state leaders have consistently urged the Corps to rely on legal standards, scientific data, and factual analysis in its review.

Armstrong emphasized that the Dakota Access Pipeline has operated safely for eight years and has become a key component of the nation’s energy infrastructure.

He said continued operation of the pipeline supports national energy security and affordability while providing economic benefits across North Dakota.
