North Dakota – A North Dakota man was arrested for driving under the influence after a two-vehicle crash Wednesday afternoon left his vehicle engulfed in flames, according to the North Dakota Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred at approximately 5:04 p.m. on Aug. 26 at the intersection of Highway 28 and Highway 5.
According to the Highway Patrol, a 32-year-old Minot man was driving a 2004 Ford Taurus southbound on Highway 28 when he rear-ended a 2024 Lincoln Aviator that was stopped at a stop sign.
The Lincoln was driven by a 54-year-old woman from Sherwood.
Following the collision, the Ford Taurus became engulfed in flames.
Both drivers sustained minor injuries in the crash and were transported for treatment.
The male driver was subsequently arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence.
A preliminary breath test showed a blood alcohol concentration of .174, more than twice North Dakota’s legal limit of .08.
The Highway Patrol used the crash to remind motorists about the dangers of impaired driving, emphasizing that impaired drivers can be encountered on the road at any time.
The investigation into the crash remained ongoing.
