Bismarck, N.D. – Bismarck firefighters safely rescued a group of ducklings after they became trapped in a storm sewer on the north side of the city.

The Bismarck Fire Department said crews responded at approximately 8:15 a.m. on July 17, 2026, after receiving a report from a concerned citizen about ducklings that had fallen into a storm sewer.

A crew from Fire Station 3 arrived at the scene and found that the ducklings had fallen through a sewer grate located on a commercial property near the intersection of Tyler Parkway and Burnt Boat Drive in north Bismarck.

Firefighters carefully removed all of the ducklings from the sewer and were able to reunite them with their mother, who was waiting nearby.

The department thanked the concerned resident who reported the situation and helped bring attention to the trapped ducklings.

The rescue highlighted the department’s role in responding to a variety of calls throughout the community, including situations involving public safety and animal assistance.
