Bismarck, N.D. – Bismarck city officials and Knife River Corporation provided an update on the ongoing East Century Avenue reconstruction project, highlighting recent progress, temporary roadway changes, and upcoming work.

Currently, gravel travel is limited to entering and exiting at Stonewall Drive. Over the next few days, traffic will be shifted from Stonewall Drive to Roosevelt Drive to allow for paving preparation and connection at the Stonewall intersection.

Paving has been completed on the section starting just east of Stonewall Drive and extending beyond Roosevelt Drive. Concrete crews have moved to work on the northwest tie-in to existing Century Avenue, along with sidewalks and intersections at Greensboro Drive, Stonewall Drive, and Roosevelt Drive. A large paving operation was planned for the weekend of August 2.

Officials expect the roadway section from the western project limit to Roosevelt Drive to be fully open shortly after the school year begins. Meanwhile, construction west of Roosevelt Drive remains the priority, while underground infrastructure work continues to the east. Major activity in the eastern section will begin after initial milestones in the priority zone are met.

Residents with questions or concerns are encouraged to contact project manager Andrew Osborn by email or phone at 701-989-4959.

City leaders thanked the community for their patience and support during the construction, emphasizing that the improvements will enhance safety, traffic flow, and overall service for residents and travelers.
