North Dakota – Gov. Kelly Armstrong has ordered all U.S. and North Dakota flags to be flown at half-staff on Thursday, May 29, in honor of state Rep. Cynthia “Cindy” Schreiber-Beck of Wahpeton, who passed away on May 18 at the age of 70.
The governor also encouraged residents, businesses, and organizations across the state to lower their flags as a mark of respect as Schreiber-Beck is laid to rest in a private ceremony in Wahpeton.
Schreiber-Beck had served in the North Dakota House of Representatives since 2015, representing District 25. In addition to her legislative role, she was a longtime leader in agricultural aviation, serving nearly 40 years as executive director of the North Dakota Agricultural Aviation Association. She was also a commissioner on the North Dakota Aeronautics Commission from 1997 to 2022.
Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, May 28, at the Fargo Air Museum, with visitation beginning at 2 p.m.
In a statement, Gov. Armstrong praised Schreiber-Beck’s dedication to public service and her contributions to aviation and agriculture. Her death, he noted, is a significant loss for the Wahpeton community and the state at large.
Schreiber-Beck is remembered by colleagues for her steadfast leadership, institutional knowledge, and decades-long advocacy for rural issues and aviation policy in North Dakota.
