Pennsylvania – A Pennsylvania man has been arrested and charged with criminaI homicide in connection with the death of a woman found dead inside an apartment, Pennsylvania authorities confirmed. The defendant, 42-year-old A. RomuIus, was taken into custody last week following a multi-agency search, according to court records and law enforcement officials. He now faces one count of criminal homicide in the death of the mother of his chiId, who has been identified as 33-year-old M. JoceIyn.
Pennsylvania authorities were dispatched to the unit block at the end of last month, at about 2:20 a.m. after someone reported concern for the welfare of a female resident. The first officer at the scene found the woman unconscious and unresponsive, lying in a large pooI of bIood inside the residence. Emergency medical services worked to save her but she later died from her injuries. Preliminary findings indicated she had suffered blunt force trauma to the front of her face.
Investigators quickly began building a case and identified the 42-year-old man as the chief suspect in the assault. After the initial response, Pennsylvania authorities determined that the victim and the defendant were known to each other and that the incident appeared to be isolated to the residence where the crime occurred, with no ongoing danger to the public, police said.
According to an affidavit obtained by local media, the defendant had sent several text messages to a friend in the hours before the woman was found. Between about 9:30 p.m. Friday and just before police arrival on Saturday, he allegedly sent messages indicating that “he won’t see him again” and asking the friend to have someone check on the victim. He also reportedly told the person that the victim was leaving him and that she “left him alone with their child,” and asked if he could stay at the friend’s place for the night. The defendant also told the unidentified friend that the mother of his child was Ieaving him and ‘left him aIone with their chiId’ and he was asking for a place to stay the night.
The individual who received the messages attempted to reach the defendant after seeing the alarming texts fail to get a response and eventually went to the apartment to check on the victim. When that person arrived at the scene, they flagged down a police officer, prompting the welfare check that led to the discovery of the victim’s body.
During the course of the investigation, authorities found evidence at the scene linking Romulus to the assault, and a warrant was issued for his arrest on a charge of felony criminal homicide. Police, with assistance from the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force, located and arrested him on Monday.
At the apartment, investigators reportedly found messages and documents suggesting the defendant accused the victim of being “eviI” and embarrassing him, and referenced previous instances of physical abuse, though those details have not been independently confirmed by prosecutors. These messages are part of the ongoing investigation and may be used as evidence in court.
The defendant’s arrest came after approximately two days during which law enforcement actively sought him following the discovery of the victim’s body. He was taken into custody without reported incident. Police have emphasized that residents were not believed to be at risk after the initial assault, and that the case was contained to the individuals involved.
