    MHS takes first at Minot Invite

    MINOT, N.D. – The Magi paced the four-team field with an overall score of 691. Meanwhile, second place Bismarck Legacy notched a score of 356. Bismarck High (342) and Mandan (308) placed third and fourth respectively.Minot produced winners in 11 of 12 total events, including all three relay competitions. In individuals, sophomore Jaxon Reinke led all swimmers in the 200 and 100-yard freestyle with respective times of 1:56.89 and 52.13 seconds. In the 200-yard individual medley, senior Dominic Yoder separated himself from the rest of the pack with a top finish of 2:03.99. Yoder also took first in the 100-yard backstroke (55.53). Yoder’s performance in the backstroke qualified as a second team all-state time.

    Junior Peyton Bartsch clocked in at 23.47 seconds to claim first in the 50-yard freestyle, and Magi sophomore teammate Alex King earned first in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 56.14 seconds. In the 500-yard free, it was sophomore Ryan Hubbard representing Minot as the overall winner, clocking in at 5:22.19. Meanwhile, senior Josh Boen took first place in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:03.96).

    In the 200-yard medley relay, the group of Boen, Yoder, Bartsch and King led the field with a final time of 1:42.75, and King, Reinke, Grant Schaeffer and Kalen Hill combined for a first place time of 1:33.39 in the 200-yard free. In the day’s final event, Yoder, Reinke, Boen and Schaeffer earned first in the 400-yard free as well, clocking in at 3:28.40.
