North Dakota – The North Dakota Highway Patrol released dash camera footage showing two separate crashes in which Trooper Brown’s patrol car was struck by impaired drivers, incidents that occurred less than 18 months apart.

The most recent crash happened on Aug. 8, 2025, when a drunk driver with a blood alcohol content more than twice the legal limit sideswiped Brown’s patrol car.

The earlier crash occurred on March 10, 2024, when another impaired driver struck him head-on on Highway 83 north of Bismarck.

Authorities said both incidents highlight the ongoing risk impaired driving poses to law enforcement officers and the public. NDHP stressed that drunk driving crashes are entirely preventable and urged motorists to plan ahead, find a sober ride, and never allow someone to drive while impaired.

Officials said Trooper Brown’s experiences serve as a stark reminder that impaired driving can have life-altering consequences in an instant.
