North Dakota – The North Dakota Highway Patrol is reminding drivers about the dangers of excessive speeding after a traffic stop north of Bismarck on Highway 83 where a driver was clocked at 125 mph.
Officials said the patrol vehicle recorded a speed reading of 125 mph on the speedometer, while the patrol speed was listed at 69 mph, indicating a significant difference between the two speeds during the stop.
North Dakota Highway Patrol said the incident resulted in a citation carrying a $295 fine and 15 points.
The agency referenced the stop in a public safety message, warning that reckless driving and high-speed behavior can put all road users at risk, especially during the busy summer travel season.
Officials added that speeding with passengers in the vehicle is particularly dangerous and urged motorists to obey posted speed limits at all times.
ND Highway Patrol said enforcement efforts will continue statewide as troopers work to reduce crashes and improve roadway safety across North Dakota.
