North Dakota– The North Dakota Highway Patrol is investigating a collision between a vehicle and a train that occurred late on June 27, 2025, near Eldridge.
At approximately 11:54 p.m. CST, a 2004 Chevrolet Silverado was traveling southbound on 74th Avenue SE, about two miles west of Eldridge, when the driver failed to yield at a railroad crossing.
A westbound Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) train struck the rear of the Chevrolet, causing the vehicle to spin off the tracks.
The driver, a 27-year-old male from Jamestown, was wearing a seatbelt and sustained injuries requiring medical treatment at the scene. He was subsequently arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol. Charges are currently under investigation.
The crash occurred under wet road conditions with rain falling at the time. The incident involved multiple agencies, including the Stutsman County Sheriff’s Department, Jamestown Ambulance, and Jamestown Fire Department.
