North Dakota – The North Dakota Highway Patrol is urging drivers to obey posted speed limits after a 17-year-old driver was recently stopped for traveling 90 miles per hour in a 60-mile-per-hour zone.
The traffic stop occurred between Bismarck and Mandan last weekend.
The agency used the incident to reinforce its ongoing safety message: even when roads appear open and clear, excessive speed remains a major risk. “It’s a highway, not a runway,” the department emphasized in a public statement.
Authorities continue to encourage drivers to prioritize safety and follow speed limits to reduce the risk of serious crashes.
The reminder is especially directed at young drivers, who are statistically more likely to be involved in speed-related incidents.
“Slow down, arrive alive,” the patrol added, echoing a long-standing message promoting responsible driving habits across North Dakota.
