Bismarck, ND – A 17-year-old from Dickinson was discovered dead in a creek slough in rural Northwest Stark County on January 5, 2025, authorities confirmed. The body was found by a hunter at approximately 8:38 a.m. near the intersection of 112th Ave SW and 32nd St SW.

The teen had been reported missing the previous day. On January 4, a family member contacted the Stark County Sheriff’s Office at 12:29 a.m. for a welfare check, prompting an immediate search by deputies, family members, and volunteers. The search initially focused on the residence and surrounding property, including the home, garage, and nearby areas. Deputies also utilized a thermal imaging device, but the teen was not located.

Evidence gathered during the investigation, including footprints found near the home, suggested that the juvenile may have left the area in a vehicle. Although residential security cameras captured footage of the teen walking outside, the direction he headed was not clear, and no further information about his whereabouts was provided.

The body was sent to the North Dakota State Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy, which will determine the cause of death. As of now, authorities have stated that no foul play is suspected, and there are no public safety concerns.

The Sheriff’s Office has extended condolences to the family of the deceased teen. The investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death is ongoing.
