Bismarck, N.D. – The Bismarck Veterans Memorial Public Library is joining libraries across the country in celebrating National Library Week from April 6 through April 12, 2025.

The annual observance, first celebrated in 1958 and sponsored by the American Library Association, recognizes the vital role libraries play in fostering community, learning, and connection.

Last year alone, the Bismarck library welcomed more than 250,000 visitors. From storytimes for young children and creative projects in Teen HQ to tech help for older adults, the library continues to serve as a dynamic hub for people of all ages. It offers access to public computers, free Wi-Fi, digital audiobooks and ebooks, research assistance, and a wide variety of programs and events.

The theme of this year’s celebration highlights how libraries bring people together, spark imagination, and support lifelong learning. Whether it’s borrowing a book, attending a workshop, or discovering a new hobby, the library helps patrons connect the dots on their individual journeys.

Community members are encouraged to take part in the weeklong celebration. A full schedule of events is available at [bismarcklib.librarycalendar.com/events/upcoming](https://bismarcklib.librarycalendar.com/events/upcoming).

“Whatever draws you in, the library has something for everyone,” the library said in a statement. “This National Library Week, rediscover your library and see how it draws us together as a community. You belong here.”
