Bismarck, ND — A train derailment has resulted in the closure of a portion of North Dakota Highway 200, east of the intersection with ND 18. The North Dakota Department of Transportation (NDDOT) confirmed the incident earlier this morning, stating that the road will remain closed for at least three hours while crews work to clear the scene.
According to NDDOT, the derailment occurred east of the ND 200 and ND 18 junction, prompting immediate road closures in the area. Railroad officials have implemented a detour route that directs traffic through Mayville, advising drivers to follow the alternative path to avoid delays.
Local authorities are urging motorists to use caution and plan for additional travel time as the cleanup process continues. No injuries have been reported at this time.
NDDOT has assured the public that updates regarding the road’s reopening will be provided as soon as more information becomes available.
